Places you might want to visit on your way to the Rally, during the Rally, or on the way home from the Rally. The list is not in any special order and is not all inclusive. Many more sights and places are out there to be discovered and enjoyed.
Issaqueena Falls - located in Oconee County, South Carolina, about 7 miles north of Walhalla on Highway 28 (the Moonshiner).

Stumphouse Tunnel - located in Oconee County, South Carolina, about 7 miles north of Walhalla on Highway 28 (the Moonshiner). Several tunnels that were to make up the Blue Ridge Railway.

Bull Sluice - located on the Georgia and South Carolina border just off US Highway 76. During the week the site is usually empty or maybe a couple of kayakers, on the weekends it is a popular spot for rafters, kayakers, and swimmers.

Bridal Veil Falls - located about 2.5 miles northwest of Highland on US Highway 64. It's on the right hand side if coming from Highland, you can not miss it.

Dry Falls - located a little over 3 miles northwest of Highland on US Highway 64. About a half mile past Bridal Veil Falls. The parking lot is on the left if coming from Highland. Then a brief walk down to the falls on a well maintained path.

Clingman's Dome - located in Great Smokey Mountain National Park off US Highway 441. It is 6,643 feet high and the third highest point east of the Mississippi River. It's a half mile walk from the parking lot on a paved trail.

Rufus Morgan Falls - located west of Franklin, North Carolina off of Wayah Road (State Road 1310) on Forest Service Road 388. FS 388 is not well marked and may not be well maintained early in the spring but should be no problem for a V-Strom. The trailhead is well marked and the hike in is about a half mile one way.

The Road to Nowhere - outside of Bryson City, take US 19 to Everett Street, go north, it turns into Fontana Road and then into Lakeview Drive East. Keep going until you run out of road. You're then there, Nowhere.

Blue Ridge Parkway - the southern end of the parkway starts just outside Cherokee, North Carolina. Hop on and ride as far as you want. Lots of turnouts and fabulous views.

Fugitive Dam (Cheoah Dam) - just south of Deals Gap a ways on Hwy 129. One of the filming locations for the movie "The Fugitive" from 1993.

Foothills Parkway - on the north end of the Tail of the Dragon and runs northeast up towards Walland and Townsend, Tennessee. A nice meandering road with great views of the Great Smokey Mountains. A new section is now open after Walland, TN.

Tallulah Gorge State Park - south of Clayton, Georgia. Fantastic views from the top, 1,000 foot drop to the floor, lots of stairs (1,200 to the floor), 80 foot suspension bridge, and six spectacular waterfalls. Toccoa Falls - located in City of Toccoa, Georgia. A fantastic 186 foot waterfall located on the well maintained grounds of the Toccoa Falls College.

Backbone Rock - located north of Shady Valley, TN. "The Shortest Tunnel in the World ", the tunnel was drilled through the rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, VA. Highway 133 has replaced the railroad and connects the "Snake" (US 421) and the "Python" (US 58).

Track Rocks Petrogyphs - located south of Blairsville, GA. The area contains preserved petroglyphs of ancient Native American origin that resemble animal and bird tracks, crosses, circles and human footprints.

Mingo Falls - located north of Cherokee, NC. A 120 foot falls and easy but steep (160 stair steps) walk on a well maintained trail from the parking lot.

Mingus Mill - located north of Cherokee, NC in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. An 1886 grist mill a short walk from the parking lot. Keep an eye open for elk.

Soco Falls - located north of Cherokee, NC right along US 19 on the way to Maggie Valley. There is a small turn out for parking but has limited space. The hike down to the falls is steep and rough. There are ropes left by previous visitors to assist.

The Tellico Blockhouse - located in Vonore, TN off US 411. It's the site of an outpost established in 1794 to keep the peace in the area.

Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum - located in Maggie Valley. Primarily a Harley-Davidson museum but it does include other early American motorcycles, scooters, cars, other equipment, and full size vintage motorcycle shop dioramas. Well worth the visit. Usually there's a group ride to the Museum during the Rally.
